Animal behaviourist, Kevin Richardson, has struck up a remarkable friendship with an entire pride of lions in South Africa. Sky's Africa Correspondent Emma Hurd reports.

The largest rattlesnake roundup in the world takes place each year in Sweetwater, Texas. Hundreds of rattlesnakes are captured in an effort to control their population. The Rattlesnake Roundup is a fun time for the whole family but you won’t ever see me there as I can’t stand snakes.

The frog Microhyla nepenthicola, Asia's smallest frog, sits on the edge of a penny. The creature has been discovered in a national park in Malaysia's Sarawak state on Borneo island. Fully grown, it's about the size of a pea.

A 56-year-old chimpanzee gave birth last week to a healthy baby at Sunset Zoo in Manhattan, Kan. Susie is the third oldest chimp in captivity and may be the oldest ever to give birth. Although the baby still doesn't have a name, Sunset Zoo will host a contest to decide what to call the young chimp. Zoo officials see this serendipitous event as an opportunity to educate the public about chimpanzee conservation.

Two newborn liger cubs - the offspring of a lion and a tiger - were presented to the media at a private zoo in Taiwan this Monday. You might think the arrival of two rare cross breed animals would be a cause for celebration but the birth of these two cubs has already caused a controversy. Animal rights groups in Taiwan have criticised the zoo's owner for illegally crossbreeding two different species of protected animals.

Six people throw their pugs into a swimming pool. I'm not sure what surprised me more - that the pugs didn't drown, or that a decent amount of people turned up to watch.
