1989 Chris Rock Documentary
Cool 1989 student documentary about Chris Rock trying to make it as a 23-year-old comic. Certain stars have that aura about them that even from a young age you can tell they are going to be famous. Someone in film school must have seen that in Chris Rock, because there is no other reason to film this 23 year old kid.

Jim Carrey: The Un-Natural Act (1991)
I haven't seen this since it first aired. Jim Carrey was still the white guy from In Living Color, and I thought he was funny so I tuned in. It turned out that In Living Color only allowed a small glimpse into his talent. I have never laughed harder at a stand-up comedy routine before or since. Whenever I find myself frustrated with a Jim Carrey movie, I only have to think back to this TV special to remind myself of the wealth of his talent.
Eddie Murphy Raw (1987)
After achieving fame with Saturday Night Live and Beverly Hills Cop, Eddie Murphy released a film version of one of his live stand-up performances. He mainly focuses on the topics of divorce and relations between the sexes, but also goes into some of the problems he's encountered because of fame, including offended listeners and fans who continually greet him with his unprintable catch phrases.
George Carlin: Carlin on Campus (1984)
Carlin brings some great comedy here. In the form of not only stand-up, but also in animation and a skit at the beginning. He performs some classics, like a place for your stuff, have a nice day, and the sports chant. Great entertainment all around, considering this is the earliest Carlin special that's on video (the others I saw on tv).
Dave Chappelle: For What It's Worth (2004)
Killin' Them Softly, what I consider to be Dave Chappelle's non-cinematic breakthrough (the cinematic could be with Half Baked), was a very potent mix of comedy, dealing with some celebrity jokes and great humor involving the hood (the 'baby' bit is classic).
Dave Chappelle: Killin' Them Softly (2000)
Dave Chappelle returns to D.C. and riffs on politics, police, race relations, drugs, Sesame Street and more.
George Carlin... It's Bad for Ya! (2008)
It's Bad for Ya really showcases more of George Carlin's talents. He really is still as sharp as a tack. It is a shame that we lost him this past year, but his comedy will forever live on. This stand-up special is literally one of the funniest I have ever heard a comedian perform.
George Carlin - Playin' With Your Head (1986)
This album was recorded May 2-3, 1986 at the Beverly Theater, and was released on July 30, 1986 on the Atlantic label as Carlin's fifth HBO stand-up concert special. Carlin's not resting on his laurels here, presenting an abundance of new, politically incorrect material while expanding a few older routines.
George Carlin: You Are All Diseased (1999)
Legendary comic Carlin comes back to the Beacon theater to angrily rant about airport security, germs, cigars, angels, children and parents, men, names, religion, god, advertising, Bill Jeff and minorities.
George Carlin - On Location at USC (1977)
Irish-American comedian George Carlin's first ever HBO special, recorded during the Summer of 1977 at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. This unique taping lasted 85 minutes, and, at age 40, marked a new era in Carlin's career. He explained to the audience that before this special came about, that he never did a show for home consumption or reproduction.
Richard Pryor - Live On The Sunset Strip (`82- Classic)
One of comedian Richard Pryor's live performances (at the Sunset Strip, obviously) caught on film. Pryor talks about most of his standard subjects, including rascism and the differences between blacks and whites, along with talking about some of his recent film roles.
Russell Peters - Red White And Brown
Russell Peters takes it to another level with his ability to mimic many accents of South Asian, Chinese, Persian, Italian, Portuguese, Greek, American, Jamaican and Canadian accents really have to be heard to be believed. He has the body language and facial expressions of his targets down pat this is a man who can gesture in other languages.
Dennis Leary - No Cure For Cancer
This is why Dennis Leary rules.
