If you know the difference between tech house and techno, AND feel that one is grossly superior to the other, welcome home.

The only other remix officially approved by Mr. Marley's Estate
EugeneBelford:
seriously? this was definitely one of the better reinterpretations of a marley track, if not the best, though i had no idea it was "official" in any way.
Hux:
Yup, there were a lot of bootlegs, but the Marley estate would only let there name be used for these two songs

Hux:
Man, I had this and the other one on vinyl when I spun vinyl... I can't believe I sold it

AndySchneider:
i think i dropped this one in college a few times, probably somewhere between One More Time and Better Off Alone

One of the greatest house songs, its influence on future music (especially electronica) is astounding
AndySchneider:
if i recall this was the first house track ever to incorporate a distinct jazz-like influence and feel

One of only two Bob Marley remixes officially allowed by Mr. Marley's Estate
It's that time again! This is definitely 50/50 Deep House/Indie-NuDisco. Kind of experimental. Not a lot of mixes mix these two genres. Let me know what you think! Thanks!
fader:
no worries...let me know how it sounds. I'm asking cuz it's kind of experimental...attracting indie/disco listeners to deep house. Not exactly easy! If you catch something off in the mix, I'm open to suggestions! Thanks! I was just beginning to wonder because fourfour has kind of been quiet lately!

thanks for the reminder. finishing up some indie rock myself at the moment so i'll let you know how it meets me.

fader:
i guess it appeals to the indie crowd, but tries to introduce them to the deep house scene...you don't get that everyday!

AndySchneider:
definitely. thoroughly enjoyable. the only recommendation i have is to consider the harmonic compatibility of the tracks during the transitions to prevent key clashes, however overall that wasn't too big of a factor on this mix. nice work :)

Another great Music website that I discovered. If you like Hip-Hop, Electronica, Mashups, and Remixes then look no further.

Progressive House Remix by Darren Emerson From 1992 - I love the way this builds
AndySchneider:
choice share. this was consummately placed on Digweed's MMII disc as well, which was celebrated for its disregard of track selection based on recency.

I think I've got the OT Quartet version around somewhere (that's the original, right? Builds like a skyscraper?)

I don't mind this, but prefer the two tunes separately (the vocal is from Kings of Tomorrow - Finally which is an amazing track) as opposed to this mash-up version. Still...

max:
very nice. the mid section tracks weren't really my vibe but were non the less enjoyable and kept me interested until you built up to the trance at the end. :D a very cohesive ordeal despite the range of styles included

RAMIRO:
Thanks. I purposely wanted to cover a wide spectrum of styles on this one. glad it worked out. :)

AndySchneider:
mix of the month, man. there's a very sasha 007 SF vibe to the first quarter where you skip around melodies and intensity making for a fun little ride, and the transition into darker, more tribal stuff (and back to melody) is really well done. throwing it into trance as the finale is a gutsy move that pays off, and i imagine would detonate a crowd. anyone reading this in DC...check this DJ out.

a bit harder than what you may expect for a lieb track, but the creamy middle makes it all worthwhile. from his last studio release "The Hive" in 2003.
max:
i appreciated the extra production work and more interesting percussion he did on the hive, but it seemed to come at the expense of the catchy melodic elements of his earlier stuff and so i did not like it as much. still had some very cool tracks of course

AndySchneider:
agreed, and this was the one track that brings me back to this album. everything was going tribal and percussive in '03 as well (the era of creamer/k, blackwatch, etc.) so perhaps he was just following the times. as much as we would have enjoyed it, i doubt his label would have been too happy with releasing an album's worth of Netherworld.

daverave:
If I shine a spotlight with an outline of an ARP2600 on the clouds at night (of course, only the early model one, before the Moog filter lawsuit), will Mr. Lieb come out of his cave and save us all from the current onslaught of boring, poorly-produced dance music? I, for one, would welcome his analog overlordship.

daverave:
He could also "paraglide" out of the sky to save us, too, that also would be ok by me.
