Meet Jamie Robertson, SparkFun customer and 30-year embedded design veteran. When Jamie needed a small MP3 player that could respond smoothly to volume commands for his latest interactive art collaboration, he didn't head to the local electronics store. Rather, Jamie turned to SparkFun and custom build his own media device. After a few enhancement his prototype became the MP3 Trigger - now available at SparkFun.com

AMD claims the new Radeon HD 4290 integrated graphics system is the company's fastest yet, clocking in at 700 MHz. The addition of Unified Video Decoder 2 (UVD2), which allows for accelerated multiple streams and other video detail enhancements, for 1080p playback of Blu-ray and other high-definition video and for upscaling of standard DVD movies to near-HD quality, only adds to chipset's intrigue and utility as the basis for an HTPC system.

The results of that effort mean that principles of quantum mechanics, previously limited to small bits of matierals, can now be applied on a large scale. Modeling, then, for anything from fuel-efficient cars to electronic devices, will happen exponentially faster than it does today. Innovation just got an upgrade

Built around NVIDIA's ION 2 platform, the Aspire One 532G takes your typical netbook hardware - namely a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 "Pineview" processor and Intel's GMA 3150 IGP - and pairs it with NVIDIA's 512MB GeForce 310M GPU via the use of NVIDIA Optimus Technology, which, if you recall, provides seamless transition between IGP and GPU use. Sounds like a near-perfect mix, we reckon, and Acer tells us that the netbook can manage 10 hours of operation from a single charge.
