Everest Deaths Spike Thanks to "Death Zone"

May 24, 2012 Congested trails have caused a spike in deaths on the world's highest mountain. An area known as the 'death zone' — where low atmospheric pressure makes climbing dangerous — has been bottlenecked thanks to high traffic and a brief window of good weather. The zone has contributed to four deaths in one day.
